Peter Murray is one of the four specialist art advisors on the selection panel.
Peter Murray is the founding director of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which was 30 years old in 2007. Yorkshire Sculpture Park, set within 500 acres of 18th century parkland, is an international centre for modern and contemporary sculpture, experienced by thousands of visitors each year, including students and members of the public of all ages and abilities who are engaged in the YSP education and community programme. The landscape is used for the display of sculpture in the open air. Temporary indoor exhibitions take place in the Underground Gallery, Bothy Gallery, Garden Gallery and Longside Gallery.
Peter Murray has organised and curated numerous exhibitions including Henry Moore and Landscape, Lynn Chadwick, Marino Marini, Kan Yasuda, Ursula von Rydingsvard, David Nash, Magdelena Abakanowicz, Anthony Caro, Joel Shapiro, Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Chillida. He has travelled extensively throughout the world, lecturing and advising on sculpture in the open-air and contributing to conferences. A trustee of the Marino Marini Museum in Florence and up until recently Vice President of the International Sculpture Centre in Washington DC Murray is also a member of the Art Advisory Committee of the Springhornhof Foundation in Germany. He has received a number of honours and awards including the National Arts Collection Fund Award, Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art, Honorary Doctorate from the University of Lincolnshire and North Humberside and in 1996 was awarded an OBE for contribution to the Arts.
